Multidisciplinary artist and instructor Susan E. Roden resides and maintains an art studio
in Albuquerque. She has exhibited nationally and a recipient of many awards, including the
Medal of Honor for pastels from the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, NY, and awarded an
Artist Residences to Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park (2009), The Desert Dairy Farm,
Twenty-Nine Palms, CA (2021, 2022, 2024) and Mission Street Arts, Jemez, NM (2023).
Roden’s paintings have been featured in Décor & Style, The Pastel Journal, San Diego
Home / Garden Lifestyles and has had her art grace the cover of the Pastel Artist International
Magazine with an accompanied 10-page article. Southwest Art Magazine cited Roden in 2005
as “Collectors Choice for Pastels”.
She is a juried member with the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Distinguished Pastelist
with the Pastel Society of New Mexico, 2019 & 2020 President of Pastel Society of New Mexico,
Board Member and Secretary of the New Mexico Committee of the Women’s Museum of Art.
As educator, Roden has taught at UCSD Extension, San Diego Museum of Art and currently
conducts classes at Harwood Art Center, OASIS / ABQ and The New Mexico Art League.
Her art is in notable collections such as San Diego Chamber of Commerce, San Diego
Unified Port District, William Heath Museum, City of Albuquerque, Albuquerque Junior League,
and UNM Hospital. Roden is represented by Tirage Gallery, Carlsbad, CA, Patrician Design,
